Scales of War
The product of an affair between his mother, an eladrin noble, and a human male, her retainer, Benn would have been banished forever from the Eladrin realm within the Feywild, had it not been for the intercession of his mother. She gave him to her father, who at the time was a high ranking noble in the Order of Bahamut, to train him up anonymously. In exchange, she would never see her son.
Benn’s grandfather resented him and regarded him as the reason he lost his daughter, as well as a blight on the family name and never considered him family. Though originally he intended to keep him as a mere servant around the temples, Benn could not be ignored when he providently helped save a general’s life during the disasterous Battle of the Citadel. Despite what seemed like inevitable death, Benn somehow transported the fallen general back to the friendly camp, which saved the general’s life.
The general took a shine to Benn and gave him personal training within the order. While he eventually became an initiate into the order, he never was given promotions because of his half-elf status. While Benn understood he had been born under shameful circumstances, and that Bahamut supported nobility and order, he could not help but question his unfair treatment, which seemed to go against Bahamut’s charge to defend the weak and helpless. However, he could not reconcile this with the faith he holds in Bahamut.
After years of care without any true love, Benn eventually decided to strike out on his own. While wandering the lands and doing mercenary work, he stumbled upon ancient scripture written in draconic, which he could not initially understand. Taking it to some clerics and scholars, eventually he determined that the belief and worship of Bahamut was not originally developed by the Eladrin, as was taught in his temples, but by the race of dragonborn themselves. Stunned by this revelation, but understanding the implications it had on the Order of Bahamut’s dogmas, Jaak decided to seek out these dragonborn himself, hoping to find an adventuring group who has sighted them and traveling with them until hopefully he can find out the true origin of Bahamut and his teachings.
Having found his way to the Prime material realm from the Feywild, Benn’s eyes have become far more open to the evils of the world and he has spent years travelling on his quest searching for the true meaning of Bahamut and his teachings.
Benn is not as talkative as other half-elves. He is always polite and cordial, as according to his Eladrin noble upbringing. He goes out of his way to help anyone in need, and tries his best to eschew material possessions, only taking and using what he needs, as according to the code he was taught in his training.
After arriving at the Monastery of the Sundered Chain, Benn has found his calling. He has stepped up to the role of High-priest, seeing to the spiritual needs of the Monastery while Valasaar remains it’s military leader.
